Volleyball receives All-Conference honors

The J-Hawk volleyball program’s season came to a close in the regional quarterfinal against #15 ranked Grundy Center. Jesup ended the season with a record of 20-14 and tied for third in their conference. Jesup’s wins included Hudson, East Marshall, and Central City. The team finished as runner-up in their home tournament Sept. 11 and in the Decorah tournament in late September. Their final regular season game resulted in a 3-1 victory over Gladbrook-Reinbeck (22-12). It marked a comeback victory from their 1-2 fall against the team earlier in the season.
Junior Caelor Wymore finished the season by beating the school career dig record of 885 that was set by Riley Mihm in 2019.

Senior Bobbi Thomas finished fourth in the conference for kill efficiency at .339.

All-Conference awards went to Thomas (First Team), junior Laney Pilcher (Second Team), Wymore (Second Team), and sophomore Jersey Even (Honorable Mention). All-Conference Academic went to senior Leah Becker, senior Alexis Larson, junior Olivia Baldwin, junior Kylie Winter, Wymore, Even, Thomas, and Pilcher.

Becker was awarded the E. Wayne Cooley Award which goes to an athlete who influenced their team in a positive manner while demonstrating great character and overcoming great odds or sacrifice.
