Bosco's Becker is recipient of IGHSAU Golden Plaque Award
Longtime Don Bosco coach Jane Becker is the 2021 softball recipient of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union's Golden Plaque of Distinction Award. Becker will be honored prior to the start of the Class 1A state championship game at the 2021 State Softball Tournament on Thursday, July 22 at Rogers' Sports Complex in Fort Dodge.

The IGHSAU Golden Plaque of Distinction Award honors the Iowa coach who has demonstrated a successful career while making notable contributions toward school, community and the coaching profession.

Becker was the head softball coach at Don Bosco from 1986 until her retirement from coaching in 2018. In that span, she led her team to the state tournament nine times, placing third three times. Becker holds a career record of 962-415. Her 962 victories is the most among all female softball coaches in Iowa and she never posted a losing season in her 32 year of coaching.

Becker is a recipient of numerous coaching awards and has been inducted in the the Iowa Girls Coaches Association's Softball Hall of Fame and is a member of the University of Northern Iowa Athletic Hall of Fame.

Becker and her husband, Leo, are the parents of Brittany, Cory and Tony.
