Jesup’s Lienau sets new school record in shot put and discus

The Jesup boys took a fourth place finish out of ten teams in their first outdoor meet of the season at BCLUW.

It was a record setting night for the J-Hawks. Junior Carson Lienau had a big night with his first place finishes in both the shot put and discus. Lienau edged ahead of the previous record of 50-07 set by Jared Kayser in 1996 with a new record of 50-07.50. Lienau’s discus throw of 160-01 earned him the second highest record in the school’s history, right behind his brother and current University of Iowa track and field athlete Tyler Lienau. Throwers Merrick Sly, Nathan Novak and Kamden Oschner set personal records in the Apr. 1 event.

Junior Parker McHone took the top prize in the long jump with his finish of 19-08.00. He also scored a second place finish in the 110-meter hurdles at 17.00 and third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.77. All were new personal records.

Brody Clark-Herlbert took sixth in the long jump at 18-02.00. Clark-Herlbert finished third (24.38) and Carter Even fourth (24.40) in the 200-meter dash. Kile Rottinghaus finished fourth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:17.19.

The team also scored with a third place finish n the 4x800-meter relay. They had fifth place finishes in the 4x100-meter relay, 4x400-meter relay, and 800-sprint medley relay. They earned a point with their sixth place finish in the 4x200-meter relay as well.
