Absentee ballots for school special election now available; register by FridayJesup Community School District will hold a special election on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 to adopt a Revenue Purpose Statement specifying the use of revenues the school district will receive from the State of Iowa Secure an Advanced Vision for Education Fund.
Absentee ballots for Buchanan County voters residing in the Jesup Community School District are now available at the Buchanan County Auditor’s Office, 210 5th Avenue NE, Independence IA 50644.
Absentee ballots for Black Hawk County voters residing in the Jesup Community School District are now available at the Election Office, Room 210 of the Courthouse at 316 E. 5th St., Waterloo, IA 50703.
Ballots may be voted at either Auditor’s Office from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday, through Monday, March 1. To vote by mail, send an absentee ballot request form (found at www.sos.iowa.gov or www.buchanancounty.iowa.gov or www.blackhawkcounty.iowa.gov) to the Auditor’s Office at one of the above addresses and a ballot will be mailed to you. Absentee ballot request forms must be received in the appropriate Auditor’s Office by the deadline of 5 PM, this Friday, February 19, or no ballot will be mailed.
The polls will be open from 7 AM until 8 PM on Election Day, March 2. Buchanan County voters that reside in the Jesup Community School District will vote at Jesup City Hall, 791 6th Street, Jesup. Voters in Perry/Westburg townships and Fairbank Township that are in Jesup School District will vote at First United Methodist Church, 455 6th Street, Jesup. Brandon residents in Jesup School District will vote at Brandon Community Center, 804 Main Street, Brandon.
Black Hawk County will have one voting location for Black Hawk County voters that reside in the Jesup Community School District at the Gilbertville American Legion, 1110 6th St. (south entrance).
The last day to pre-register at the Auditor’s Office for this election is this Friday, February 19 before 5 PM. Voter registration forms may be found at www.sos.iowa.gov or, for Buchanan County residents, www.buchanancounty.iowa.gov and for Black Hawk County voters, www.co.blackhawkcounty.iowa.gov.
Following the deadline and on Election Day, any new voter and any voter who has moved from outside the county will be processed using the requirements of Election Day Registration and must provide proof of residence and identity.
