Jesup varsity girls and Middle School boys finish first in New Hampton
By Micah Knebel

The J-Hawks’ final regular season cross country meet took place in New Hampton on Oct. 8.

The J-Hawks once again went into the week’s race with two ranked varsity teams: the girls holding strong to the #3 spot and the boys in #15.

“The big focus for tonight was to compete well and come away healthy and ready for the next few weeks,” wrote head coach Nick Green on the team’s Facebook page. “For the most part, we met these goals and then some. We had a few athletes who really elevated their performances and showed they are ready to take the next big step to help the team next week at conference.”

Both the varsity girls and middle school boys finished first in their competitions. For the second time this season, varsity runner and #5-ranked Amanda Treptow finished first overall. #13-ranked Clare Wright was not far behind with her second place finish. The girls had another top ten finisher with Natalie O’Connor finishing sixth.

Middle school athletes Mackenzie Wilson and Nathan Pint also landed second-place finishes.
