The 2A substate semifinal on July 18 pitted #2 North Linn (16-2) against Jesup (6-7). The teams competed at the North Linn field. The J-Hawks and Lynx were 1-1 at the close of the first inning and neither team was able to land another run through the second. North Linn was next to score with a run in the third. Jesup responded by scoring three runs at the top of the fourth to take the lead, but North Linn then broke ahead with an explosive 12 runs at the inning close, cementing their victory and their chance to compete at substate.
Jesup’s Gavin Nolan batted in three of the team’s four runs. Brody Clark-Hulbert batted in the team’s other run. Runs were scored by Brodie Kresser (two), Parker McHone (one), and Bryce Gleiter (one). Gavin Nolan and Kresser both landed second base hits.
The J-Hawks suffered seven strikeouts and had five hits in their 19 times at bat. Kresser, Clark-Hulbert, and Brevin Dahl each maneuvered stolen bases.
