Jesup girls end historical season 20-5
This year’s J-Hawk team made school history as the second girls’ basketball team in school history to advance to the state tournament. The last time this feat had been achieved was 20 years prior.

The team ended their season against North Iowa Cedar League (NICL) rivals Dike-New Hartford who they had faced off against for the third time this season. The J-Hawks ended the season with a strong 20-5 record and finished second in their conference overall.

As the season progressed, they had a nine-game winning streak, including a comeback win against another NICL rival Denver. The J-Hawks had fallen to the Cyclones by eight points in their first matchup this season, but Jesup came back to take a two-point victory against the team late January.

Leading scorers this season were sophomore Amanda Treptow with 312 points, followed by senior Brittany Lingenfelter with 297. Lingenfelter led the team with 54 successful three-point shots and a three-point shooting percentage of 36%. Senior Payton McHone led the team with 207 rebounds and 16 blocks. Senior Allison Flaharty had the second highest rebounding score with 103. Treptow had the most assists with 64 and also led the team with 45 steals.

Postseason honors were awarded to Amanda Treptow who was unanimously named to the All-Conference First Team. Brittany Lingenfelter and Payton McHone were named to the All-Conference Second Team.

The team loses six seniors: Payton McHone, Leah Borgerding, Allison Flaharty, Brittany Lingenfelter, Brianna Lingenfelter, and Mirissa Mashek.
