Littlefield, Delagardelle advanceThe 2A, sectional seven tournament was held in Manchester on Feb. 8. Wrestlers competed for a chance to advance to the district finals this Saturday, Feb. 15.
Wrestlers finishing in the top two spots in each weight class advanced to districts, moving them one step closer to a chance to compete at the state championship individually.
For the second year in a row, Carter Littlefield and Jerret Delagardelle were the top finishers for the J-Hawks. Littlefield finished first in the 113 lb. weight class, winning the quarterfinal with a :56 pin against Anamosa’s Tyson Gravel and the first place match with a technical fall at 3:39 with a score of 15-0 over against West Delaware’s Luke Farmer.
Delagardelle finished second in the 145 lb. weight class. He won his semifinal with a pin at 2:53 against Monticello’s Dylan Roher. He fell in the championship round to West Delaware’s Jadyn Peyton at 2:57. He faced off against Monticello’s Roher again in the second place match, this time winning by a no-contest call.
Though they will not advance to districts, the J-Hawks had other strong finishers with Brady Wilson (120 lb.), Izak Krueger (152 lb.), and Keaton Roscovius (160 lb.) each finishing third. Steel Rolison (106 lb.), Ethan Alferink (126 lb.), and Jarrett Ciesielski (132 lb.) took fourth.
Bryce Gleiter (170 lb.) finished fifth, and Jesus Silva (285 lb.) finished seventh.
