J-Hawks upset DonsJesup boys’ basketball earned a surprise upset and their second win of the season in their Jan. 6 match-up against Don Bosco.
Jesup led undefeated Don Bosco 23-16 at halftime. By the third quarter, they grew that gap to 38-24. Bosco rallied in the fourth to narrow the lead but were unable to overcome the J-Hawks who took the 54-49 victory.
Cooper Fuelling netted 20 points. Corbin Fuelling landed eight points, and Landon Borrett and Jase Pilcher both scored seven points for the J-Hawks. Other scorers were Heath Wyant with six points, Carson Lienau with four, and Tanner Cole with two.
The J-Hawks had 33 rebounds, five steals, and five blocks. Jesup made seven out of its ten free-throw shots.
Jesup trailed their opponents BCLUW in their second away game of the week on Jan. 7. The J-Hawks moved into the second half down by three points. BCLUW had a ten-point lead moving into the fourth and kept that advantage going to the final bell, ending the game 48-38 in BCLUW’s favor.
Cooper Fuelling and Landon Borrett scored double digits. Fuelling earned 12 points for Jesup and Borrett 11.
