Softball #6 in State
1A #6 ranked Jesup lost to #5 ranked AGWSR on June 4. Jesup was unable to score until the fifth inning, ending it 3-6. Jesup landed its final point in the seventh, finishing the game 4-6. Zoe Miller, Kristin Sadler, Alexus Jensen, and Rhianna Bigwood each scored a run in the game. Runs were batted in by Breanne Fischels, Jensen, and Bigwood.

Jesup’s double-header against Union on June 5 ended in a blowout, the J-Hawks finishing ahead 17-2 in the first and 17-0 in the second. Zoe Miller landed two triples in the second game of the night.

The team hosted a two-day tournament at home June 7 and 8. Jesup played Maquoketa Valley in their opening matchup, winning 14-1. Zoe Miller scored four runs in the game. Other scorers were Jenna Jensen (three), Andrea Gibbs (two), Alexis Larson (two), Breanne Fischels (one), Kristin Sadler (one), and Caelor Wymore (one). Runs were batted in by Alexus Jensen (four), Zoe Miller (three), Andrea Gibbs (three), Breanne Fischels (two), and Jenna Jensen (two).

In their second game, Jesup fell short against Center Point-Urbana, 8-9. Jesup was up 5-1 at the end of the second inning, but Center-Point Urbana rallied in the third, scoring four runs. Neither team scored again until the fifth where Center-Point Urbana took its one point lead.

On June 9, Jesup fell 2-3 against Cresco. The J-Hawks took on North Fayette Valley in their final game of the tournament, coming ahead 10-0 and finishing the tournament in seventh place overall.
