Mae C. Christopherson
JESUP – Mae C. Christopherson, 94 years old of Independence, IA, and formerly of Jesup, IA, died Monday, May 27, 2019, at ABCM Rehabilitation Centers – East Campus in Independence.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Friday, May 31, 2019, at the American Lutheran Church, Jesup, with burial at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery-Locust, rural Decorah, IA. Visitation was 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Memorials will be directed to the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery fund. Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com

Mae was born August 21, 1924, in rural Decorah, the daughter of Clarence Victor Knoke and Mildred Melissa (Feltis) Knoke. She graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1943. On September 10, 1945, she was united in marriage to Wallace Carsten Christopherson at St. John’s Lutheran Church–Locust, rural Decorah. They farmed until 1974 and then moved to Jesup. Mae was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Jesup and the Independence Merry Mixers Square Dance Club.

Mae is survived by one son, Carsten (Barb) Christopherson of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Barbara (Jon) Wilken of Salem, SC, Beverly (Merle) Headington of Decorah, Debra (John) Williams of Winthrop; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law Her parents; husband, Wallace; and one brother, George Knoke, preceded her in death.
