J-Hawk boys’ record at 4-6, girls’ at 8-3
The Jesup varsity boys celebrated a victory coming off of winter break. They defeated Sumner-Fredricksburg at home on January 4, 60-39.

Jesup took an early lead, outpacing their opponent by 13 points at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was a tougher bout with each team only scoring four points each. Sumner-Fredricksburg rallied to close the gap in the third but was unable to turn the game in their favor.

Scorers for Jesup were Cade Nolan with 21 points, Landon Borrett with 14, Cooper Fuelling with 13, Josh Johnson with seven, Zach Mead with four, and Brodie Kresser with one. Nolan had four steals, Johnson had two, and Zach Tovar had one. Johnson also had 14 of the team’s 39 rebounds.

The boys played Turkey Valley at Wartburg College on January 5 and fell 53-57. Three Jesup players scored in the double digits: Brodie Kresser (16), Cooper Fuelling (14), and Cade Nolan (12). Nolan also had two steals in the game.

The Jesup varsity girls had a less successful outcome against Sumner-Fredricksburg on January 4. They were defeated 40-59. Sumner-Fredricksburg was ahead 11 points at the end of the first quarter. Each team added 13 more points to their score in the second. In the third and fourth, Sumner-Fredricksburg continued to edge ahead of Jesup, adding 27 more points to their final score while Jesup added 19.
