Dirt Diamond Divas earn runner-up National Champion Trophy
Dirt Diamond Divas (10u-Black) softball team won the runner-up National Championship in Minneapolis July 26-29 at the Mall of America National Championships. This team took second place out of a field of 64 teams, earning them National Champion Runner-up.

Their undefeated pool play record gave them a one seed to start bracket play, according to Coach Josh Nolan. Going into the final round of bracket play, the Divas and Owatonna Crush both held an undefeated record.

After a tough loss in the championship game of the winner’s bracket, the Divas fought back, beating Tonka Black for the third time in the tournament to reach the Championship game and a rematch against the Owatonna Crush.
There would be two more games played as The Divas beat Owatonna 3-2 in extra innings, using international rules; then falling one run short in the final game, losing 4-3, Nolan said.

They ended the tournament with a 9-2 record and second place finish in the first ever Mall of America Nationals.

The Dirt Diamond Divas 10u Black team is coached by Josh Nolan, Travis Nichols, Kyle Buskohl and Ryan Dohlman.

“The Divas would like to thank their coaches, community and parents,” Nolan said.

“It is with their support that this team was able to accomplish great things this season,” the coach concluded, then added: “A special thanks to our sponsors: Bankers Life, Farm Bureau Financial Services (Bobby Liebsch); Monat Wealth Management, Cedar Valley Concrete Raising, Alston Kresser Farms, Leiran Painting, Platinum Pest Services, BMC Aggregates, Mike Taylor – Lockard Realty, Holtan Farm, Cedar Valley Finish Carpentry (Steve Bigwood), Smith D&L Insurance, and Keke and G. Dean and Ty Hanson.”
