Burton Jackson
Burt Jackson passed away a year ago on Nov. 21, 2016, at the age of 90. He was born in Lamont, Iowa, to Edward (Ray) and Helen Jackson and lived throughout northeast Iowa. Burt was graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1945 and served in the Army Air Forces in World War II. He was graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa), taught high school in Galva, Iowa, and was graduated from the University of Iowa School of Law.

Burt built several houses in Independence, then worked for State Farm Insurance and the St. Paul Companies, transferring to the St. Paul area in 1971. Burt worked primarily investigating medical malpractice claims and always said he loved going to work every day.

Burt and Jill Sangrey were married Oct. 3, 1981 and enjoyed tennis, traveling and theater productions.

Following retirement in 1994, Burt spent his time working on their home, following the Twins and keeping up with the news and the stock market. He learned to roast and grind his own coffee beans because a good day always started with a great cup of coffee.

Burt was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Harold and sister Hazel and their spouses. He is survived by his loving wife Jill and sisters Harriette (Bruce) Heiserman and Marian (Carroll) Conklin and many nieces and nephews.
