Dunkerton – Cletus Leonard Steffen, 78 years old, of Dunkerton, IA, died Friday, January 22, 2010, surrounded by his family at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, IA.
Mr. Steffen is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, of Dunkerton; seven sons, Kenneth (Brenda) of Dunkerton, Kevin (Jeanette) of Waterloo, Dan (Wanda) of Dunkerton, Dale (Audrey) of Dunkerton, Robert (Wendy) of Dewar, Randall (Kara) of Liverpool, NY, and Joseph (Renee) of Waterloo; five daughters, Karen (Mark) Stueland of Tipton, Donna (Steve) McNulty of Janesville, Colleen (Chris) Jensen of Amana, Kathleen (Dale) Stiles of Liverpool, NY, and Sara (Eric) Shook of Urbana, IL; 30 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six brothers, J. Richard Steffen of Dunkerton, Norbert (Betty) Steffen of New Hampton, Alfred Steffen of Dunkerton, Rev. Arnold Steffen, S.V.D, of Papua, New Guinea, Sylvester (Felicitas) Steffen of New Hampton, and Ralph Steffen of Hoffman Estates, IL; one sister, Sr. Justina Steffen, O.S.F. of Dubuque; and one sister-in-law, Betty Steffen of Ames.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jamie Marie Jensen; one brother, Vincent; one sister, Sr. Samuel Steffen, O.S.F.; and two sisters-in-law, Ann Steffen and Lillian Steffen.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with Rev. Kenneth C. Stecher as celebrant.
Burial will be at the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Dunkerton, with military rites conducted by Nugent-Demuth American Legion Post 714 of Gilbertville.
Visitation will be after 7 PM Sunday, and from 2 – 8 PM Monday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 8 PM Sunday and Parish Rosary at 3 PM and Vigil Service at 7 PM Monday.
Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
