Jesup – Delbert F. Phillips, 79 years old of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, December 24, 2009, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, IA, of natural causes.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his loving wife Beatrice “Bea” of Jesup; four daughters, Regina (Kenneth) Thiry of Waterloo, Marcie (Steve) Miller of Waterloo, Donna Simons of Fishers, IN, and Ann (Rob) Blaser of Ankeny; three sons, Rick (Debra) Phillips of Jesup, Timothy “Tim” (Angela) Phillips of Independence, and Ronnie “Ron” (Carol) Phillips of Rochester, MN; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Maxine (Cletus) Even of Jesup; one brother, Cletus (JoAnn) Phillips of LaPorte City; and one sister-in-law, Mathilda “Tillie” Phillips of Jesup.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with Rev. Kenneth C. Stecher as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup, IA with military rites conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday after 2 PM when a Parish Rosary will be recited at 3 PM and Vigil Service held at 7 PM. The casket will also be at the church for an hour before services Tuesday.
Memorials will be directed to Pump-Scheer American Legion Post #342 and to St. Athanasius Church and School all in Jesup.
