Michelle Marsh and Katelyn Chamberlin shot in the 40s to lead the Jesup Girls’ Golf team against Vinton-Shellsburg at Vinton April 16.

Michelle had a personal best score of 45, for meet Medalist, and Katelyn shot a personal best of 47 for Runner-Up.

Olivia Hemmer shot a personal best 54 to round out the scoring for Jesup.

No team score was posted, as Jesup had only three girls take part in the meet.
Kelsey Mahood carded a 51, to lead Vinton-Shellsburg.

The day was with mild temperatures, and very little wind, ideal golfing conditions.

The meet was only the second this season for the Jesup team.

All of the Jesup girls posted personal bests, with great rounds by Michelle Marsh and Katelyn Chamberlin.

Jesup Coach Pat Winblade remarked, “The girls are capable of highly competitive scores. They all had situations on the golf course, where they could have been better.”

She continued, “I was very proud of their performance, and would hope it just makes them even more eager to shoot lower, as the season progresses.
“We will certainly have to work hard for it.”

In earlier action last week, the Jesup girls combined with three members of the Jesup boys’ golf team, to play in the Annual BCLUW Co-Ed Meet at Union, IA. (See Jesup Boys’ Golf article.)

Coach Winblade commented, “We were very pleased and proud that all of our couples medaled.

“It was great weather, and it was a fun golfing experience for the kids,” she added.

The boys teed off on the odd-numbered holes, and the girls teed off on the even-numbered holes.

The meet scheduled with Independence and Union (La Porte) for Monday, April 13, was postponed due to the weather. It has been re-scheduled for May 12.
