John B. Spiegel
John B. Spiegel, 75, of Bolivar died peacefully, Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar, Missouri.

He was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert and Jean Spiegel, the youngest of two sons.

In the spring of 1962, he married the love of his life, Carolyn R. Hosack, in Kansas City. They moved to Warrensburg where he finished his education at Central Missouri State College and graduated in 1964 with a B.S. in education. His education carried him to Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota and finally to Bolivar.
While in Iowa he attended the University of Northern Iowa where he graduated with a master’s degree, plus extra hours, in education. This enabled him to be not only a teacher but a principal and a superintendent. They moved to Bolivar in 1992, where he taught 3rd and 4th grade in the Bolivar School system. John always wanted to be a teacher from the time he was in high school.

John and Carolyn welcomed four children into their lives as well as numerous foster children. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn; two sons, Jake (Denise) and John (Katherine); two daughters, Deb (Mike) Fisher and Michelle (Bob) Kurtz; four granddaughters, Devin, Ashley, Alison and Amanda; two grandsons, Rick and Drew; one great-grandson, Ryen, and foster daughter, Tammy Loffland.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Saturday, August 4, at Bolivar United Methodist Church, with visitation one and a half hours prior, from 12:30 – 2 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bolivar United Methodist Church Choir fund.
