Jesup boys and girls beat Wapsie at basketball
Jesup’s girls crept by Wapsie Valley 41-37 in their final basketball game of 2017 Dec. 21 at home. The winning points came in the first quarter with Jesup outscoring the Warriors 11-6. The rest of the game was nearly evenly scored each quarter to the 41-37 final score.

Brittany Lingenfelter scored 10 points, Brianna Lingenfelter scored 9 points, as did Emily Treptow. Also scoring were Jaima Tonne with 8 and Payton Mchone with five.

Jesup’s boys also beat Wapsie by four points Dec. 21, with a 76-72 final score in overtime. The Warriors surged ahead 17-7 in the first quarter with Jesup coming back 22-15 and 20-7 in the mid-quarters, then Wapsie bringing the game to a tie by outscoring Jesup 20-10 in the final stanza. Jesup won in overtime with 17 points to Wapsie’s 13.

Dylan McCombs was top scorer for Jesup with 22; Landon Borrett scored 18; Joey Youngblut 17, Cade Nolan 10, Cooper Fuelling, 4, Alex Moore 3 and Josh Johnson 2.
