Jesup boys win first two games of the season
Jesup’s boys’ basketball team won their first two games of the season – the first, Nov. 28, by a score of 61 to 55 over BCLUW. The second game was an amazing contest, tied 50-50 at the end of regulation play, it took five overtimes for Jesup to emerge the winner over Union of LaPorte City, 91-83.

In the Union game, played Dec. 1, Jesup and Union scored evenly in the first overtime 14-14; then again in the second overtime, 5-5; then yet again in the third overtime, 3-3; and in the fourth overtime, 11-11. With the score still tied, this time at 83-83, the J-Hawks poured in 8 unanswered points for the final win, 91-83.

Joey Youngblut was high scorer with 28. He shot 14 of 19 free throws and had 13 rebounds. Landon Borrett scored 16 points, Dylan McCombs, 15, Cade Nolan 14 – including four of seven three-pointers. Cole Van Brocklin scored 7, Josh Johnson scored six and Alex Moore scored five points. Johnson also had 11 rebounds.

In the first game of the season, Dylan McCombs was top scorer with 25, making 4 of 11 three point attempts. Also scoring in this 61-55 victory over BCLUW, were Alex Moore with 9, Joey Youngblut with 9, Cade Nolan with 7, Landon Borrett with 6, Cooper Fuelling with 3 and Cole Van Brocklin with 2.
