J-Hawks blanked at Homecoming
The Jesup football team record moved to 0-7 when they lost their Homecoming game 7-0 to North Cedar, Stanwood Sept. 29.

Cole Van Brocklin made 12 completed passes, out of 25 attempts, for 120 yards in the air. He had a variety of receivers: Josh McGill with five catches for 33 yards; Dylan Brown with four catches for 62 yards; and single receptions by Derek Weitzenkamp, Zach McNeese and Joe Giarratano.

Total rushing for the Hawks was 96 yards with carries by Giarratano, McGill, McNeese, Van Brocklin and Tristen Reyes.

Defensively, Dylan Brown picked off one interception. He was near the top of the tackling columns with 5.5 total tackles, tying Cole Oberbroeckling, and just ahead of Van Brocklin’s 5, but trailing Keaton Roscovious and Brian Sadler, who both ended up with 6 total tackles.

Oberbroeckling had a 37 yard kick-off; and Derek Weitzenkamp had five punts totaling 155 yards. Drake Flemming and Keaton Roscovious had kick-off returns.

Friday’s game was at home against Maquoketa Valley. This Friday’s game is at Bellevue.
