Suzanne Mary Amfahr Rahlf
(Cresco, Iowa) – Suzanne Mary Amfahr Rahlf was born May 21, 1937 in Jesup, Iowa, to Frank and Dorothy Frost Amfahr, the third of five children. Her happy childhood was spent in this friendly, safe, small town. She graduated in 1955 from Jesup High School.

In 1956, Suzanne met and married, Arlan Rahlf of Waverly and moved from rural Jesup to Whittier, California. Her husband taught college while Sue tended their home and their first child.

In 1960, they moved back to the Midwest, eventually settling in Mason City. Three more children livened the household. While Arlan taught at NIACC, Suzanne dedicated her life to their family and home. She was a model wife and mother. Later, Sue worked in daycare, pre-school and her own home cleaning service.

Arlan passed in 1991, but Suzanne carried on. She bettered her community and built friendships through several organizations, especially Questers. Suzanne delighted in hosting and assisting family gatherings, decorating her beautiful home, dressing stylishly, cultivating flower beds, listening to music, plus shopping store and garage sales.

In 2015, Suzanne moved to Cresco, Iowa. April 21, 2017, at age 79, Suzanne peacefully passed.

Suzanne is survived by her children: Pam (Tom) Spindler, Rich (Debbie) Rahlf, Kim (Rich) Gibson, Dana (Steve) Meyer; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers: Jerry (Donna) Amfahr, Jim (Judy) Amfahr; one sister: Ella Amfahr Lins; several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Karen Catherine Amfahr Poll in April, 2014, and also her parents.

Services for Suzanne and Karen will be held at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA.

Memorials may be directed to St. Athanasius Parish.
