Nate Clayberg is BCEDC director
The Buchanan County (Iowa) Economic Development Commission (BCEDC) has hired Nate Clayberg as the organization’s new Economic Development Director. Clayberg comes to the BCEDC after spending seven years in marketing and development in the Cedar Valley.
Clayberg brings a wealth of community involvement, knowledge of Buchanan County and great experience in marketing and fundraising to the commission. He spent the last year overseeing the Sartori Health Care Foundation in Cedar Falls, and the previous six years as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions at the University of Northern Iowa.
“This is an exciting opportunity for me and my family,” Clayberg said.
“Buchanan County has been my home for the last seven years, and my wife grew up here. This position gives me the opportunity to build on the great relationships I already have in this area to help grow our county. We have so much going for us right now, even in a down economy. Our location is perfect for businesses to succeed, but for our area to be successful we all need to come together and work extra hard to let it grow. I am excited about helping to organize the collaboration of the people of Buchanan County to improve the quality of life for our residents and cultivate and steward relationships with new and existing businesses.”
Clayberg holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from Iowa State University, and a Master’s of Science degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. The Iowa native is a graduate of Webster City High School.
His personal interests include boating, golfing, college athletics and traveling. Clayberg and his wife Kelly have been married for nearly 11 years. They have a seven-year-old daughter Rachel, who is in the first grade at Jesup Elementary, and a three-year-old son Daniel.
Clayberg replaces Greg Halverson, who resigned last fall to become the Vice-President of Economic Development at Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce. The BCEDC Director reports to a 16-member commission board that represents all incorporated Buchanan County communities as well as tourism, agriculture and industry.
The mission of the Buchanan County Economic Development Commission is to unite the communities of Buchanan County in their efforts to retain and recruit business and industry. The organization also focuses on new investment, job creation/retention, opportunity, and serves as a resource of information for the communities it serves.
