Kirsten Ferch won two events to pace the Don Bosco High Girls’ Track team to a fourth-place finish at the Tripoli Relays in Tripoli May 1.
By finishing fourth, the Don Bosco team totaled 74 points, the highest ever for the young program at the school.
Kirsten Ferch won the 200 Meter Dash in a time of 28.6 seconds. Kirsten also won the 400M Dash in a time of 1:05.4. She also anchored the Sprint Medley team for Don Bosco which finished first.
In addition, Kirsten was second in the Long Jump with a leap of 13’8”.
Megan Thome took third in the Long Jump with a leap of 13’6”.
Kayla Conrad of Don Bosco finished sixth in the Shot Put with a heave of 25’1/2”. Kayla was fifth in the 100M Hurdles in a time of 18.7 seconds.
Megan Thome took fifth in the 100M Dash in a time of 15.00 seconds. Carly Even was sixth in a time of 15.3 seconds.
In the Distance Medley Relay, Don Bosco finished fifth with a time of 5:27.2. Kayla Conrad, Carly Even, Taylor Even, and Alex Wright made up the team for the Dons.
Jen Ortner was fourth in the 400M Dash in a time of 1:11.8.
In the 4x200M Relay, Don Bosco finished fourth with a time of 2:03.9.
Brittany Rhoads, Abbie Schares, Megan Thome, and Katie Horrigan comprised the team.
Alaina Rigdon placed fourth in the 200M Dash in a time of 29.2 seconds.
The Sprint Medley Team for Don Bosco won the event in a time of 2:02.2. Brittany Rhoads, Abbie Schares, Alaina Rigdon, and Kirsten Ferch ran for the Dons.
Taylor Even finished sixth in the 800M Run in a time of 3:09.2, and she was fifth in the 1500M Run with a time of 6:11.8.
The 4x100M Relay team was fifth with Brittany Rhoads, Abbie Schares, Alaina Rigdon, and Megan Thome making up the team.
In the final event of the night, the 4x400M Relay team was fourth, with Taylor Even, Katie Horrigan, Jen Ortner, and Brittany Rhoads running for the Dons.
Don Bosco Coach Ann Rigdon said, “We are coming together as a team, but it’s late in the season. We had more than half of our scheduled 12 meets rained out or whatever, so the season has been short.”
The girls ran in the Waverly-Shell Rock Invitational at Waverly on April 29. The field was loaded with Class 3A teams, and the competition was fierce.
Alaina Rigdon of Don Bosco was fourth in the High Jump, with a jump of 4’6”.
Kirsten Ferch took fourth place in the Long Jump with a leap of 15’5”.
The Spring Medley Relay team for Don Bosco finished sixth with a time 2:02.4. Megan Thome, Brittany Rhoads, Alaina Rigdon, and Kirsten Ferch ran for the Dons.
The Iowa Star Conference Meet was held at Hudson on May 6.
Girls’ Regionals are to be held this Saturday, May 10, at Brooklyn, Iowa, beginning at 10 AM. The meet will be hosted by BGM High School. |
