Just like that, and the track season is upon us.

Members of the Jesup Girls’ Track team participated in the Indoor Meet held at Iowa State University in Ames, on Monday, March 17.

Jesup Coach Lisa Loecher said, “We ran pretty well for the first meet of the season. I was pretty happy with the way the girls performed.”

In the 3,000-Meter Run, Kayla Zuck ran a time of 12.56, to finish 36th out of a field of 64 runners.

Every Class is put together for the meet, and their are exceptional competitions in each event.

The J-Hawks 4x800M Relay team ran a 10:20.12 to capture fifth place. There were 46 teams in the event.

Tessa Westpfahl, Alicia Soppe, Kelley Klein, and Erica Kite comprised the team for Jesup.

The Jesup Sprint Relay team ran their race in a time of 2:04.65, which was good for 25th place in a field of 58 teams.

Shana Kester, Stacie Kayser, Erica Soppe, and Autumn Vogel made up the team.

Jesup did not run the 4x400M Relay, as the night began to get long, and the team had two hours of travel ahead of them that night.

Coach Loecher summed it up by saying, “We basically improved in everything we ran, except for the 4x800 Relay team, which is a good sign for the upcoming season.”

She continued, “We definitely will be there time-wise for the 4x800 team by the end of the season.”

The Jesup team took part in the Class 1A Girls Indoor Track Meet at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls on Tuesday, March 25.

The meet scheduled for Postville on Thursday, March 27, has been cancelled, due to poor track conditions.

Jesup will host the Annual Lady J-Hawk Invitational on Tuesday, April 1, at the Middle School in Independence. Starting time is 5 PM.
