Jesup Blood Drive, Aug. 18, 12-5 pm
The next Jesup Community Blood drive will be on August 18, at the First Presbyterian Church, from 12-5 pm. The First Presbyterian Church is located at 643 6th Street.
New changes to blood drives
The Red Cross has recently made a few changes to blood drives. New at this drive will be Rapid Pass, which allows each person to take 15-30 minutes off their blood donation time by allowing them to answer questions and read material they would normally complete at the drive.
Although Rapid Pass must be done on the day of the drive, it can be done on any computer before arrival at the blood drive. Go to redcrossblood.org/rapidpass, read the information, answer the questions then print the confirmation form and bring it to the drive, or if you have a smart phone, you can e-mail it to yourself.
When you arrive at the drive you will only have to show proof of identity, the confirmation form, and have your iron level and temperature checked before you can donate. No more time will be taken to be interviewed by nurses and answer questions on the computer at the drive. Rapid pass donors will be taken first upon arrival.
Appoinments are served first
Appointments are always taken before walk-ins, even if a walk-in donor has arrived first. Donors do not have to be at the drive at their specific appointment time in order to be put at the front of the line. If an appointment is set for 2:00, but the donor does not arrive until 3:30, that if perfectly fine, they will still be served first upon arrival. The important thing is that they have an appointment set to help prepare the staff for their arrival.
Donor gift drawings
Also new at this drive, there will be drawings for two $10 visa gift cards. Anyone who attempts to give blood will be entered into the drawing. Even if you are turned away, for any reason, your name will go into the drawing.
For more info or to make an appointment call Yvette Vogel at 319-269-8209.
